As an independent, grassroots community radio station, WERU invites and depends on people from the communities served by our broadcast signal to get involved as volunteers with virtually all aspects of station operations.

Over 100 volunteers serve as WERUs on-air programmers, bringing the listeners music, news and public affairs programs. There are also over 100 behind-the-scenes volunteers doing office work, outreach tabling, event management, facilities maintenance, committee service, music library work, answering pledge phones and much more.

New Volunteer Orientation usually takes place individually or in small groups, often on Zoom. This session prepares you for all sorts of volunteer opportunities at the radio station and makes you eligible for DJ and public affairs host training.
